Hi. I’m Bridget, a certified sleep science coach
and mattress expert here at Sleepopolis. And Today I am going to be testing the Bear
Elite Hybrid mattress. I’m going to put It through a variety of tests to let you know
how it performs on our Sleepopolis scorecard. But before we dive in here are some quick
facts you should know about the Bear Elite. It’s a cooling hybrid mattress with both foams and
coils and it has a zone support system which means There are different levels of firmness throughout
the bed to support spinal alignment. It comes in Three different firmness levels: Luxury firm,
luxury plush, and extra firm. So you can choose Your preferred level. Today, we’re going to be
testing the luxury plush version. A queen size Mattress at full retail price is currently about
$2,400, but I do want to point out mattress prices Change all the time and we also always have
coupons for you. Just click on the link in the Description below. Now, the Bear Elite will ship
for free, and it comes with a 365 night trial, And a lifetime warranty. It arrives compressed
in a box, and a queen size weighs 110 pounds. So you’re going to want a helping hand getting it
set up. My co-worker, Amelia, so kindly helped me Do that. It wasn’t too difficult to unbox with two
people. I love watching these mattresses expand Like you can see it doing here. But give it a
day or two to let it fully expand and release Any off-gassing smells. Our first test is a
big one if you share the bed with a partner or A pet. The motion transfer test. Motion transfer
is how movement carries from one side of the bed To the other. So think if you’re sleeping on this
side of the bed and your partner is tossing and Turning on the other side. There’s no reason to be
woken up by that, so we’re gonna start by testing This out with our red wine test. It’s not only
tasty, but also visual. I put a glass of wine on One side and then had Amelia move around on the
other side to see how it affected it. These were Pretty good results. I’d say a 4 out of 5 for
now, but I want to test it a little further. So I’ll take away the red wine and move around on the
bed to see how much movement Amelia feels on the Bed. You know, get a real human in there and she
said she gives it a four out of five. So putting Our scores together, I’m going to give the Bear
Elite a four out of five for motion isolation. Next up is our edge support test. Edge support
is a measure of how well the perimeter of a bed Supports weight. So think if you ever sit on the
edge of the bed or you like to sleep near it. The Bear Elite has edge to edge coils along its
perimeter, so they should help it perform well. To start the test, I sat on the edge and tied my
shoes. I felt good here with only a little bit of Sinkage, so I’d give it a three and a half out of
five for sitting. Then I laid and moved around on The edge of the bed, and I felt it was stronger
laying down. Scoring it a four and a half out Of five. This bed has some good edge support.
Overall I would give it a four out of five. Alright now, it’s time for the pressure map
test. Although, I can tell you that this bed Feels cushiony, and it has top layers of foam,
the pressure map takes it even further. It uses
Heat mapping technology to show where
pressure is building across my body. When I lay on a mattress here’s what you need
to know. When you’re looking at the results, Blues and greens are low pressure oranges and
reds are high pressure. You’re going to want To see low pressure around your back hips and
shoulders if you sleep on your side or back. When I laid on my back, I saw blue pretty much
all throughout. On my side, there was also blue And green. So overall I give the Bear Elite a five
out of five for pressure relief. For back sleepers And a four and a half out of five for pressure
relief for side sleepers. Now I will add that It’s not about pressure for stomach sleepers.
We’re going to talk about them here soon. So let’s talk about the different sleeping
positions and how they test on this bed. Every sleeping position is going to want to have
their spine in alignment but they’re going to Need different characteristics out of a bed to
make that happen. Stomach sleepers need a firm Mattress to keep their hips elevated and spine in
alignment. I consider the Bear Elite in the luxury Plush firmness level about a medium firm mattress.
So I think stomach sleepers will want something Firmer they might do better on the extra firm
version of the Bear Elite instead of the luxury Plush. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 for stomach
sleeping. Side sleepers need some contouring Around their shoulder and hip, and although I
felt really good on my side on this mattress, You could go for the even softer version if you
wanted to. But I’d give it a four and a half out Of five for this version for side sleeping. Back
sleepers need a comfortable and supportive option. They would do great on this bed, so I
give it a 5 out of 5 for back sleeping. Now let’s do the responsiveness test. This shows
how easily you can move around on the mattress Which is important if you’re a combination
sleeper or if you want to get in and out of Bed without any struggle. Since I don’t sink in
too much when laying on the Bear Elite mattress. And it has a little bounce to it. I
can move around pretty effortlessly And when I move into a new sleeping
position I feel like the bed adjusts well. Because of all this, I give the Bear Elite a
four and a half out of five for responsiveness. Okay now that we’ve gone through all of our tests,
let’s crank the numbers and give the Bear Elite One overall score along with the scores
you heard me mention in this video. I’m Also going to bring in other details like its
materials, its warranty, its cooling capabilities, And give those a score as well. So when
I put it all together and average it out The Bear Elite gets a 4.42 out of 5. I hope you
